Merchiston & Polwarth Neighbourhood Watch

Merchiston & Polwarth Neighbourhood Watch was launched in May 2004 (an earlier scheme had folded when its co-ordinator became ill), in response to an outbreak of thefts in two of our residential streetsMerchiston Polwarth logo.jpg

Over the years additional areas have joined and we now cover 16 streets, with over 800 households receiving our six-monthly Newsletter and being invited to attend our public meetings twice a year.  The aim of Neighbourhood Watch is to encourage neighbours to “look out for each other”, not be nosey parkers or vigilantes!   We work closely with the Police and some of our most eminent local residents, including Ian Rankin and Alexander McCall Smith, have attended our meetings.
